At Flux Sports Therapy we can assess and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries. If however you suspect you have a new ligament injury (ie. severe loss of movement or extremely unstable around a joint) then we do recommend that you seek a Physiotherapist first.
A sports injury can be classified as either acute (a sudden onset injury) or chronic (a gradual onset injury).
Acute injuries are often a sprain or strain. A sprain is an injury to a ligament and a strain is an injury to a muscle or tendon. They are commonly due to over-stretching when performing an activity.
Chronic injuries generally result from overuse of an area or from a long-standing condition. Common chronic injuries include arthritis, tendonitis, tennis elbow and repetitive strain injury (RSI).
For an acute injury, the P.R.I.C.E. principles should be applied as early as possible and continued for the next 24-72 hours. They are the key components required to prevent further injury, limit swelling, decrease pain and help the healing process. When applied correctly they can significantly reduce the recovery time needed for an injury.
An acute injury can only be treated once the pain and swelling has subsided. This normally takes between 24-72 hours with application of the PRICE principles. If you would like to book an appointment please click here.
Chronic injuries are onset over a period of time from overuse, so the P.R.I.C.E. principles do not apply. Heat should be applied to relax and loosen the overused area, which will also reduce any pain. Resting the injured area can also relieve symptoms but without treatment the symptoms are likely to return with activity.
A chronic injury can be treated immediately. If you would like to book an appointment please click here.

“I recently visited Flux due to a gym injury which impacted my back, right shoulder and neck which resulted in a constant headache. After a professional and friendly service from Kristan I’m now fully recovered.”
