FAQs

Is it painful?

It depends a lot on your individual pain tolerance and experience with being treated. Some patients feel slight discomfort here and there but refer to it as a “good pain”. Many techniques we use work at a deep level to release long-held tension, but to create a permanent change in a soft tissue sometimes you can experience mild pain. Of course, if at any point you are feeling uncomfortable then the pressure or technique can be adjusted.

Will I be treated during my initial injury assessment?

Definitely. While we do start your initial consultation with a thorough discussion and physical, the majority of the session will still be based around treatment and exercises.

How many sessions do I need?

This is entirely individual and can be more accurately advised following your initial assessment. However, as a general rule of thumb the following tends to hold true:

Minor: 1-3 Sessions
Major: 4-6 Sessions
Complex: 7-10+ Sessions

For treatments of 3 or more sessions there are package deals available.

How can it help me if I’m not in pain?

When we talk about future-proofing your body, we mean it. Don’t wait for an injury to build up. Our modern lifestyle habits of being glued to a chair or couch for many hours a day or in front of a computer screen does not allow our body to work or maintain itself the way it’s supposed to. Add in some ‘weekend warrior’ activity after a stressful week with very little movement and it can leave you very prone to pain and injury.

On the other hand, if we take the time on a monthly basis to address your muscular tension, improve your movement patterns, address lifestyle factors, and ensure that we’re dealing intelligently with tweaks and aches before they become a major problem, you’re going to feel better, move faster, and live a longer, pain free life.

Can I claim back the cost through my insurer/health plan?

You will need to check with your insurer/health plan provider that our registered professional body, the Sports Therapy Organisation (STO), is included within your specific cover. It is dependant on you to verify this first before you book as every insurer/health plan provider is different and provides varied levels of cover so we cannot provide any information on your own plan and we hold no accountability for any failed claims.

Do I need my doctor's permission to be treated?

In the majority of cases you do not need a doctor’s referral to be treated by us. You will always be given a brief consultation at the start to confirm that you are fit for treatment, and in the rare case you are not then you can reschedule after having received your doctor’s permission.

How much does it cost?

All pricing is displayed on the individual treatment pages and the online booking system.

What should I wear?

This depends on the areas of your body needing to be worked on but we ask all patients to dress in (or bring along) appropriate clothing – lightweight, loose fitting, flexible is ideal and it’s highly recommended that you bring some shorts with you for unrestricted movement/assessment. You are welcome to change at your appointment and will be left in private to do so. It is essential for us that you are relaxed and feel comfortable during your treatment. Will I feeling sore after my treatment?

You may feel sore after your session but don’t worry, this is completely normal. Some treatments can be quite intense and experiencing mild effects like this afterwards is not unusual. You will always be advised of aftercare measures to manage this once your session is complete.

When can I go back to exercise?

You will be advised on this after your treatment as it is entirely individual based on the reason for your visit. However, for more generalised treatments such as a sports massage or deep tissue massage it’s always best to just take the rest of the day off and allow your body fully recover.
